Geoff is an experienced projects and construction lawyer.  Geoff specialises in the delivery of complex, high value projects and the resolution of disputes involving major infrastructure, renewable energy, PPP and property projects.

Geoff provides pragmatic, commercial advice through the entire project lifecycle.  Geoff advises on project delivery strategy, mitigation of risk and dispute avoidance during the project execution phase (in a “project counsel” capacity).  Clients value Geoff’s experience and knowledge of their industry.  He works closely with client teams to understand their commercial drivers so that he can manage risks and achieve commercial solutions to the challenges that arisegeoff on major projects.   

Geoff also represents claimants and respondents in a range of dispute resolution processes including, adjudication, mediation, arbitration (international and domestic) and court proceedings.  He has significant experience in domestic and international arbitration, including under the ICC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA and AMINZ rules of arbitration.

Prior to returning to New Zealand in 2021, Geoff was a Senior Associate at Clyde & Co LLP, the MENA region’s top ranked projects and construction (ranked tier 1 in both the Legal 500 and Chambers directories).  Between his international and local experience, Geoff has advised on a number of the highest profile projects in New Zealand and the MENA region.  These nationally significant projects include, Transmission Gully, the Turitea Wind Farm, NZICC, Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre, the HVDC Inter-Island Link, NZTA State Highway 20, Burj Khalifa Tower, Dubai International Airport, Riyadh Airport, Riyadh and Mecca Metro projects.

Geoff is a member of Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) and the Society of Construction Law.  He has also lectured in construction law at the University of Auckland law school and the Auckland University of Technology.
